For more than a decade VITA copenhagen has made a name for itself in the design world, and over the years has become one of the most innovative lighting companies in the business. To continue our journey and to underline our Nordic design heritage, we have extended our design universe with a comprehensive furniture collection called Furniture Feelings.
Because from today we become much more than a producer of lighting products, to celebrate the new adventures ahead and to emphasize our heritage, we change our name to UMAGE.
WALK THE EXTRA MILE
And why UMAGE? The reason is simple: We believe that all the things in the world which make life wonderful are made by people who are willing to walk that extra mile to give you an extraordinary experience. In Danish we have a word for that very thing: UMAGE. If you make yourself UMAGE, it means that you have done something extra – you have made an extra effort. And that is exactly what we strive to achieve every day at UMAGE.
In our pursuit of beauty and sustainability, we seek the harmony and distinction of the Nordic scenery. Our designs are deeply rooted in the diverse urban landscape and raw nature surrounding our home in the pulsating heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At UMAGE, we take the story of Scandinavian design further than ever before. We combine aesthetics, simplicity and functionality, and infuse it with thoughtful craftsmanship and environmental care. It’s still all about making an effort.
VITA copenhagen has always been known for our flat-packed lighting products. That ́s not going to change. All our products, including our new furniture collection, are still efficiently packed in stylish boxes, to optimize global logistics, reduce storage and transportation costs and to make our designs more accessible and affordable. In the process, we minimize the carbon footprint on our planet and maximize our commitment to environmental responsibility.
Having begun our journey in 2008, we have been constantly growing and expanding. Today, UMAGE is present in over 2,000 stores in more than 40 countries around the world. And now, with our new Furniture Feelings collection, we hope to grow even further.
“For a decade we have been making lamps that have been sold in more than 40 countries all over the world. Now we are also producing furniture. To summon our efforts and our communication we have chosen a short and unique name. UMAGE, which means making an extra effort in Danish, describes our efforts to be a different Nordic design company,” says Søren Ravn Christensen, Chief Creative Developer at UMAGE.
